Illinois uses a paired system rather than a single number — your front and rear windows are regulated together.
- •35% VLT on the front side windows, paired with at least 35% VLT on the back side and rear windows
- •50% VLT on the front side windows, paired with at least 30% VLT on the back side and rear windows
- •SUVs and vans may run any darkness on the glass behind the driver
- •Windshield tint is limited to a non-reflective strip above the AS-1 line — roughly the top 6 inches. Full windshield coverage is not legal in Illinois at any VLT.
We install to legal limits and will confirm your combined VLT — film plus factory glass — before we start.
